If we were wondering what was up in comparison to Earth, then I guess it would be the stars.

I suppose technically heavenly bodies are not "up" as space does not orient itself that way.

Who Said We Had To Pick Sides?

Religion
I don't know why people think that Religion and Science can't get along.

Everything that science says can also be just as true as whatever religion you believe. Although Science may disprove some of the events that your bible has said had happened or has said to explain how the universe works... it doesn't mean that either of them are wrong.
It could just mean that the way the humans have interpreted whatever god you believe in has said is not completely correct. It could also just mean that whatever god you believe in had said something that wasn't completely true in order to keep us sane.

Think about it like this...
Most of your religions started off thousands of years ago. That long ago, what kind of things did people understand?
Did they even think that the stars in the sky were gigantic balls of gas, larger than anything they've ever seen, millions and billions (numbers they didn't ever think of) of light-years away, and all we saw was the light shinning and traveling distances vaster than anything imaginable for years and years, so, in fact, all they were really seeing was the past?
Did they know that the world was much larger than just a few continents and that it was a (not so perfect) sphere orbiting around a star that was also much larger and farther away from us than anything else?
Did they know that we were not alone in our traveling and that we were accompanied by at least eight other planets who too were not so perfect spheres, each with their own qualities?
Did they know that the rain came from water evaporating from the heat of the sun, then cooled and condensed in the atmosphere to form clouds, which would then precipitate in the form of rain, sleet, hail, or snow?
Did they know that life was formed by living microscopic particles called cells that were in each and every one of us and that life could only be spawned from other forms of life?

Could they understand any of this if a god suddenly came to them and told them? Would they believe what they were hearing? Could their minds handle it?
More importantly, would other people believe them if they told their fellow villagers or would they all claim them to be crazy and shun them to a pit?
I think the latter is more likely.

So, if you were a god, what would you do? How would you get people to believe the universe around them without causing them to lose their minds?
(I know wondering what you would do if you were a god is kind of dumb, but...) You'd have to lie a little. That is the only way.
Tell them whatever you think they'll believe. Just as long as they'll believe in something and that it came from you. Just as long as they still believe that you exist.

People thought that rats and mice came from wheat fields. How would you tell them how humans came about?
Would you say that you're all made of little living things you can't see and that over time you evolved from smaller creatures into what you are today?
No! How could they possibly grasp what you're saying? They never knew what a telescope or microscope were.
You'd tell them that you originally came from two humans (in the case of Christianity and what not) named Adam and Eve who were formed from the earth and each other. Just like all other living things....

Now, I've never read a bible, so correct me if I'm wrong.
And I'm also not saying that I believe in a god, but that's just what I personally believe.
All this could very well just be the fact that people made up religions on their own. For attention maybe? Maybe they just honestly believed it to be true? I don't know.

Science
Science is constantly changing because our understandings and discoveries constantly change.
Something so impossible can become a possibility in a few years. Years after that, it can become a reality. At this rate, what do you think could happen in a hundred years?
Maybe our technology and understanding will become advanced enough to travel to other planets. Maybe we'll be able to more efficiently gather energy from the sun. Maybe we'll discover life somewhere. Maybe we'll slow aging down. Maybe we'll grow organs like vegetables. Who knows?

But what could the people of ancient times look forward to in the future? Not really anything, actually. Advances took a while, didn't they? I guess maybe what they could look forward to was an upgrade of what they already had. A stronger cart, a sharper blade....
Again, how could they possibly imagine what the universe was? How could they comprehend what we know now?

And do we really even know what is being said now? The only way to find out whether or not everything we're saying is true is by continuing our research.

Look... people in the past have suppressed the research and advancements for the sake of power or to not admit defeat. The church or whoever was in power constantly told scientists to be quiet if they didn't keep quiet themselves.
Scientists were starting to wonder what everything was made out of. They had a theory. They researched everything and eventually began to discover that their theory was wrong. The people in power at the time believed in this theory. So, to keep them happy, the scientists kept quiet. In fact, they even discouraged actually researching and making experiments to discover and prove. It took hundreds of years until people decided to give it another try. Our understandings have been halted for hundreds of years so that a small number of people could be happy and ignorant.

Do not let that happen again.

God
On my way back from the Art Institute of Salt Lake City today, I was thinking about the universe as I gazed at the sky trying not to feel sick. I thought back to theories I've heard of and was wondering about all the things I've just typed above. Then I thought of something that I couldn't believe no one has said to me yet...
What if the gods were just species from another civilization that was just advanced enough to create their own little universes? It's possible.

What if the god(s) had just created this universe(s) to follow under the rules that apply to us? What if it was different in another one? Can't this be possible?

We'd only think of these things as mystical because we don't understand how they work. Like ghosts, they might not be spirits, but instead something to do with the universe and "god" that we just don't understand yet. Lately we've been finding ways to identify and connect with spirits in ways other than just mystically and spiritually. We detect EMF (electro-magnetic fields) around them and temperature drops (or in case of demons, increase).
That's another thing, demons. What if they're with god? I don't mean on the same side as god, but part of the same species or from where ever god is from. What if they're just little punks that like screwing around with god's little basement project? Or what if they're like ghosts? Just something else we don't understand yet, but could eventually be explained with through science.

All I wanted to say about god, really, is that I don't think it's all powers only given to him/her/it. It could just be that god is one lucky person from another dimension of extremely advanced species.
That is to say if I believe in a god at all. Who's to say there's actually anything outside of the universes? What if it's nothing? What if there IS something, but it's nothing we have even thought of? What if we're just like the people from thousands of years ago? How would we know? We can only try to advance.

..Ok, I fail

Is there really a Nightmare Zim? They had every other Halloween version of the characters, (including Dib himself!), but you'd think there would be one for Zim, since.. Dib's main focus in life IS Zim, right? I was thinking it was that ugly guy who was the second to go through that firey door.. but I'm probably paranoid ;)
